I get paid £4,000 a time to put Christmas decorations up for the rich and famous Tom Harrington and his team put trees and decorations up for Manchester United and City players and Real Housewives star Tanya Bardsley

Meet the man who decorates the homes of the rich and famous especially for Christmas. Harrington’s Christmas Decorators adds sparkle to the homes of Manchester United and City footballers, TV presenters and reality stars including Tanya Bardsley from The Real Housewives of Cheshire.

The business, which covers the north west, started out in 2015 and is run by directors Tom Harrington and George Pullar. Harrington’s, a family business based in Alderley Edge, also decorates salons, offices, boutiques, estate agents, jewellers and cosmetic clinics.

Explaining why she is enlisting their help for a second festive season Tanya, the wife of Burnley footballer Phil Bardsley, explained: “So Tom is like my little Christmas angel. "Because I’ve got four kids basically he comes in and decorates my house and he even lets the kids help him do it as well which is so lovely. “Because I’m too busy buying all the presents and I have long lists as well as working here..

“Generally we start planning the final look a few weeks before but sometimes it’s a few months before depending on the size of the job,” explained Tom, who has a team of four. “I set up the business in 2015 after my old office based in Oxford asked me to decorate. They gave me two boxes of decorations, I decorated in their corporate colours and thought I could help their business. “I’ve always embraced Christmas. We had about five or six trees in the house and it looked like a grotto.

“I start work in September time and this year we’ve got just over 20 houses to decorate. “We’re busy from November through to the take downs in January. We come back and remove the decorations and put them into storage.“In January we go to Harrogate for the trade fair then Frankfurt for the international trade fair then we start planning for the next Christmas.
