New update on Amazon Alexa features santa Claus

by Super User
Amazon has released a new update for its Alexa speaking speaking with an added Santa Claus Twist. The Christmas holidays are here and we are all preparing to gather ’round the old Amazon Echo to celebrate the miracle of AI with our loved ones. With its newest update, Alexa hosts Santa Claus who’ll help Echo owners find the perfect seasonal music. Amazon’s virtual assistant now responds to “talk to Santa Claus” across all supported devices. When prompted it’ll summon Santa himself to spread holiday cheer by asking what kind of Christmas music you’re interested in listening to. Santa Claus even hosts one of the digital radio stations, North Pole Radio.

“Talk to Santa Claus” works without having to enable any skills in the Amazon app or website. Alexa will respond to several other Christmas questions, including:

What do you want for Christmas?

Is Santa Claus real? / Do you believe in Santa? / Is there a Santa?

Where does Santa Claus live? / What is Santa Claus’ full address?

How old is Santa Claus?

Sing me a Christmas Carol

What can you tell me about Santa’s reindeer?

What do you know about Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer?

Who’s your favorite reindeer?

What is the true meaning of Christmas?

Merry Christmas

Children should enjoy speaking with Alexa and Santa, and if parents get tired of hearing the same thing over and over there’s always the world of skills. The “NORAD Tracks Santa” skill is a fun way to stoke excitement leading up to Christmas Eve. Another nifty skill worth enabling is “Santa Claus,” which will help you determine if you’ve been naughty or nice this year. Also just released is a “Christmas Song Quiz” which is, as you might have guessed, a holiday version of the popular “Song Quiz” skill. With it, you and your friends and family can compete in a musical trivia competition.

If you’re feeling a bit “bah humbug” this year perhaps you just need more smart speakers. For optimum holiday cheer we recommend getting at least ten, placing them all in the same room, and playing a different Christmas song at maximum volume on each. Or you could opt to keep your sanity.

Amazon Echo is a hands-free speaker you control with your voice. Echo connects to the Alexa Voice Service to play music, make calls, send and receive messages, provide information, news, sports scores, weather, and more—instantly. All you have to do is ask.

Echo has seven microphones and beam forming technology so it can hear you from across the room—even while music is playing. Echo is also an expertly tuned speaker that can fill any room with 360° immersive sound. When you want to use Echo, just say the wake word “Alexa” and Echo responds instantly. If you have more than one Echo or Echo Dot, Alexa responds intelligently from the Echo you're closest to with ESP
